Yoga Posture Techniques and Benefits

Yoga postures are also known as asanas which initially were designed too add stability for postures used by people for long periods of meditation. For those who practice yoga asanas open up the chakras, the psychic centers and the energy channels in the human body.

People who are adept at practicing asanas feel an increase in their ability to focus and gain an increase in strength. Some yoga enthusiasts say that performing the yoga postures places them in a circumstance where they meditate on their bodies and achieve a profound understanding of their bodies.

Practicing yoga postures in known to decrease your body fat, especially in the stomach area. Some people believe it helps to improve the performance of your digestive system as well as the functioning of the excretory systems. It can help alleviate pain in your ankles, knees and also in your back.

Yoga teachers instruct you to try and relax and feel comfortable while performing yoga postures. It is important that you try and breathe in a slow and deep manner while holding the asanas. Try to extend the stretch of the yoga positions so you obtain a good stretch but make sure you don’t feel pain, since this can lead to physical problems. You also don’t want to feel strain in your body while in yoga positions.

Yoga Positions

Some of the classic yoga postures include the Sukhasana which is a starting position in yoga that assists you in concentrating on your breathing. The dog and cat yoga pose helps you to increase the range of flexibility of your spine. T

he mountain position also known as Tadasana is a standing position that can improve your posture as well as your balance. The Trikonasana, also known as the Triangle seems to stretch your spine and for those of you who would like to improve your balance this type of yoga posture might be for you.

The warrior position adds strength to your arms and legs as well as improving your balance. The cobra position, when done properly gives a stretch to your spine and can open up your heart and chest. The downward facing dog helps you become more flexible and stretches out your spine and provides a good stretch to the hamstrings. There are many other yoga positions that can be beneficial to you.

It is advisable to learn yoga postures from an experienced teacher because if you perform the poses incorrectly you can seriously damage parts of your body including the spine. If you overstretch during the poses, inflammation will likely occur in various parts of your body causing health problems such as autoimmune responses, you may experience anxiety, physiological imbalance and other health problems. Have fun and enjoy the benefits to your body and mind that you will receive from practicing yoga.
