Yoga Books Open Up a New World of Exercising and Living

Today, people want a better workout in less time. State-of-the-art equipment continues to become more complex, in order to work more muscle groups simultaneously. Ironically, the use of yoga books to master yoga has also become more prevalent in people’s exercise regimen.

Yoga Yoke

The word yoga originates from a Sanskrit (an ancient language once spoken in India) term that means union or yoke. Yoga is a Hindu practice. Its objective is to train your perception, for a state of ideal spiritual awareness and calmness. Referred to as enlightenment or self-transcendence, both physical and mental exercises can be used to help you to reach this state. Fortunately yoga books are available, to guide you in this process.

Yoga’s Birthplace And Birthday

In addition to guiding you in the practice of yoga, yoga books can also provide a history of the practice. One of the oldest theoretical methods in the world, India was born in ancient India. Relics from at least 3000 B.C., explaining various yoga postures, have been located in India. In fact, some academics have calculated that yoga could even be 5,000 years old! Yogis, or Yoga masters, argue that yoga is a complex science of a healthy lifestyle, which has gradually become an ideal practice throughout the years.

Yoga’s Coming to America

As documented in yoga books that chronicle yoga’s history, an Indian instructor and yogi named Swami Vivekananda introduced yoga to the United States in the late 19th century. Vivekananda was in Chicago, Illinois, giving a talk on medication. The number of American yoga fans gradually increased, and then exploded in the 1960s. During that time, people’s interest in Eastern philosophy thrived.

Since the 1960s’ yoga explosion, a copious amount of yoga information has been taught and learned in America, through means such as yoga books. In fact, numerous yoga experts have come to America to teach their philosophy. Meanwhile, several American Yoga students have also travelled to India, to increase their knowledge about yoga. Today, you can find numerous yoga teachers and experts throughout the United States. In fact, a recent official poll has revealed that 6 million Americans engage in yoga frequently, while 11 million Americans perform it occasionally.

Yoga is Serious Business

An increase in the sale of Yoga books proves that Yoga has become more than a passing interest in the U.S. In fact, professional sports teams and physical therapists use Yoga stretches in their exercise regimen. Various Fortune 500 CEOs and film stars have also praised the benefits of yoga. Furthermore, yoga has become a component of some medical schools’ training programs for doctors. While this may seem surprising, numerous esteemed schools of medicine have revealed that yoga is an effective treatment for stress and sickness.

Since first being introduced to the U.S. in the late 1800s, interest in yoga has become a nationwide phenomenon. Through means such as yoga schools and Yoga books, you can learn more about this fascinating approach to exercise and life itself.
