Take a Unique Vacation by Going on a Yoga Retreat

With most yoga retreat facilities you won’t be sleeping on the ground and you won’t be foraging for food after you complete a Sukhasana or a Trikonasana or even a Cobra pose. Many of the popular yoga retreats have all the comforts and amenities the luxurious vacation resorts provide for their guests. Increase your flexibility, improve your balance and relax your mind why basking in a beautiful location with plenty of resort staff available to make sure you have a pleasant stay.

The Typical Retreat Package

If you purchase a complete yoga retreat package a round trip airfare and a delightful room will be provided. Delicious vegetarian meals will be prepared for you. You will have part of your day occupied by your personal consultants and you can visit the staff doctors if you have any physical problems are questions.

Of course you will have your therapeutic treatments perhaps a rejuvenation therapy followed up the next day by a purification therapy. Daily yoga sessions will obviously be provided and the styles of yoga available depend on the retreat.

If you don’t want to concentrate on yoga positions during the evening, find a yoga retreat that offers nightly entertainment. If you are adventurous and decide to visit a retreat in India where yoga had its beginnings, some of the Indian retreats offer entertaining Indian music, traditional Indian dancing and perhaps an insightful drama.

You don’t have to stay at the retreat and meditate all day at most of these yoga retreats. A guide will take you on excursions outside of the retreat. At a typical retreat in India you will be taken on a guided tour of cultural and spiritual sites. If you desire to become a certified yoga instructor perhaps achieving this goal at a yoga retreat in some exotic location is preferable to a room in a warehouse. Why not relax on a beautiful beach after your yoga classes.

A Typical Day at an India Yoga Retreat

You begin with two hours of sadhana, also known as spiritual practices, with an expert guide on a beautiful lawn surrounded by coconut palm trees. The sadhana includes yoga postures, some chanting and some relaxing meditation. After the sadhana is completed a breakfast featuring tropical fruits, fruit juices and herbal teas will be provided for your enjoyment.

After breakfast an Ayurveda class will be scheduled for you where you will discover the principles of Ayurveda from a doctor. You will be instructed on how to work with the energy of your body. After a tasty, nutritional lunch you can have a consultation with one of the doctors on staff and then enjoy an Ayurvedic treatment. After the treatment is finished the retreat doctors usually recommend you relax amongst the palm trees in order to completely absorb the treatments you had.

After you are done absorbing and relaxing you might want to take a walk along the shoreline and enjoy the sunset. You can then enjoy a fabulous buffet dinner and some delightful entertainment. Yoga retreats are located all over the world and give you the opportunity to practice your yoga amongst beautiful scenery and enjoy some pampering.
